Second, it is a more continuous record than that taken from rocks on land.gaps in the sequence=not continuous.

作者most likely to agree,定位词more inportantly,debate是指文中提到过的controversy,我做这个题的时候人是飘的,没有静心读题,毫无章法。
eg, ONE of the many new satellites IS fantastic.
ONE of the many new satelliteS (THAT ARE very huge) IS fantasitic.
interaction of; effort to do sth
A: Of all the record companies involved in early jazz, the three most prominent [?] were Columbia, Victor, and OKeh.
D: Columbia, Victor, and OKeh were three most prominent [?] of all the record companies.
Here, it is NOT crystal clear what words are implied within the brackets since no eligible phrase appears earlier in the sentence.

理解1:The nephew...wrote the only eyewitness account of 【the great eruption of Vesuvius in two letters】to the historian Tacitus;
理解2:The nephew...wrote the only eyewitness account of 【the great eruption of Vesuvis】in two letters to the historian Tacitus.
less more这种比较词和than搭配而不是和compared to 。
Finally, older production technologies often continue to generate toxic wastes that were not regulated when the technology was first adopted. New regulations have imposed extensive compliance costs on companies still using older industrial coal-fired burners that generate high sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide outputs, for example, whereas new facilities generally avoid processes that would create such waste products.
