现在分词做状语表伴随，其逻辑主语一定要和主句的主语一致 如果 不一致 现在分词必须 加上自己的逻辑主语 构成独立主格结构 那就不是伴随主语了。这里的depending已经是一个伴随状语了，也没有加逻辑主语，为什么不能默认是跟主语保持一致呢？
这个逻辑的话，怎么排除AB中的depending on mass呢？

comma+doing除了可以做伴随状语，也可以做定语或状语，A：把depending on看成前一个动词的状语， after the star passes through a red giant stage, depending on mass，穿还是不穿取决于质量能读通；把它看成定语修饰a red giant stage, depending on mass，一个取决于体积的红巨过程，也能读通；说明depending on用得不好要让depending on明确修饰star，就要利用有逻辑关系的两部分尽量靠近的规则来构建句子，或者像D这样写，完全无歧义

另外这种动名词只能修饰逐句的主语，如果它是和前一句在一起的话，他修饰的就是省略的a star；如果它是和后面在一起的话，还是修饰a star
这个句子的句意主要想表明mass会影响compress，不应该用这种插入语的形式
个人的一点愚见，还望各位大神指正
