If he is to ride 3 times and since he can choose any of the 3 cars each time, total number of ways is
= 3 * 3 * 3
= 27
Now the number of ways if he is to choose a different car each time is
= 3 * 2 * 1
= 6
So the probability is
= 6/27
= 2/9
