不可能用单数的，不然they根本没有指代
我认为前面说了the shang being China's first administrator，后面也应该用crafter 来对称

crafter是工匠的意思。这是道GWD题，不用管了。
为什么gwd题 可以不用管了？
个人观点：GWD题经常挖一些隐蔽的坑，感觉并不是GMAT考试的出题套路，过分关注这种题很容易钻牛角尖。

crafters和句首的administrators相对应
看到句首的being就应该排除A、B项，对its/were这种代词/谓语的单复数还不够敏感！
shang可以看出是复数
但是shang为啥是culture？？好奇怪哦

哎，看见选项D就着急选了，没仔细看选项E，一个是D的指代问题，就算这个看不出来，Are这个逻辑上时间不一样也可以看出来
所以商为啥是复数名词呢。。。
were和are是不一样的，不能省略。be known as/for以。。。闻名
E 又错在its指代错误上了。这样administrators, their empire，都说明这里是their
