the Shang were the first literate culture in East Asia and are well known as the crafters of
the Shang were the first literate culture in East Asia and well known for its crafted
题目分析:
略。
选项分析:
A选项:In addition to being China's first administrators的逻辑主语必然是主句的主语。本选项中主句的主语为the first literate culture in East Asia。在逻辑上,作为中国第一个管理者的应该是“商”这个时代,而并不应该是第一本文学巨著。
B选项:本选项错误同选项(A)。
C选项:“商”是一个复数名词,所以应该用are well known,这点可以从未划线部分中看出的。in the sense that they developed a coherent bureaucracy for their empire中出现了复数代词they和their,他们均指代商朝,从此可知the Shang是一个复数名词。
D选项:Correct. 本选项在语法和逻辑上均是正确的。
E选项:本选项有两处错误。第一,并列连词and身后没有谓语动词,必然其谓语动词和and身前的谓语动词相同(只有完全一样的东西,才可以省略)。即,补全则有:
the Shang were well known for xxx
在逻辑上,商朝是一直著名于制作铜器,而不仅仅是在“过去”著名于制作铜器。因此,应改为and are well known for。
第二,单数代词its不能指代复数名词Shang。
商怎么就是复数了
The shang 不只可以理解为商朝,还可以理解为商朝人,第一句里说了administrators,说明主语是一些人(并且是复数),所以后面的the shang只能理解为商朝人
In English, collective nouns for ethnic groups / families/dynasties / proper names for sports teams, etc, will be plural (unlike other collective nouns):
The Welsh have delightful accents.
The Medici were avid art collectors.
The Heat (basketball team) play in Miami.
So in this sentence, "the Shang" must be plural. Eliminate C.
In E, "and" should connect two verbs. However, "and well known" is a participial modifier. This isn't parallel.
The correct answer is D.

好家伙,曼哈顿上写的集合名词大多数是单数,这里就给我脑筋急转弯
从未划线部分中看出的。in the sense that they developed a coherent bureaucracy for their empire中出现了复数代词they和their,他们均指代商朝,从此可知the Shang是一个复数名词。

注意题中有提示being China's first administrators;their empire所以要用复数
E the Shang were well known for xxx
在逻辑上,商朝是一直著名于制作铜器,而不仅仅是在“过去”著名于制作铜器。因此,应改为and are well known for。
第二,单数代词its不能指代复数名词Shang。
Shang是复数,表示商朝人

are逻辑上是对的,不仅是过去,现在也作为crafters of ornate bronze ritual vessels(华丽的青铜礼器的工匠)而著名
The shang 不只可以理解为商朝,还可以理解为商朝人,第一句里说了administrators,说明主语是一些人(并且是复数),所以后面的the shang只能理解为商朝人

不可能用单数的,不然they根本没有指代
我认为前面说了the shang being China's first administrator,后面也应该用crafter 来对称
“商”是一个复数名词,所以应该用are well known,这点可以从未划线部分中看出的。in the sense that they developed a coherent bureaucracy for their empire中出现了复数代词they和their,他们均指代商朝,从此可知the Shang是一个复数名词。

"in the sense that they developed"可以看出shang是复数名词了
谢谢!

哎,看见选项D就着急选了,没仔细看选项E,一个是D的指代问题,就算这个看不出来,Are这个逻辑上时间不一样也可以看出来
所以商为啥是复数名词呢。。。
were和are是不一样的,不能省略。be known as/for以。。。闻名
E 又错在its指代错误上了。这样administrators, their empire,都说明这里是their
A In addition to being China's first administrators的逻辑主语必然是主句的主语
D并列连词and身后没有谓语动词,必然其谓语动词和and身前的谓语动词相同(只有完全一样的东西,才可以省略)
