本题的主语很容易被误认为是a surge。仔细观察可知，claim的主语不仅是a surge还有and之后的a drop，即，suggest的真正主语为a surge and a drop。另外，很多读者可能会把claims看作动词，从而不理解为什么claims身后还有一个动词suggest。实际上，claims是一个固定用法，unemployment claims指因失业而提出“某人已失业，请求失业救济”，是一种失业救济程序。而new home sales也是一个固定表达，与existing home sales相对应，是指新房销售，existing home sales指的是成品房销售。全句大意是说，新房销售量的上升和周失业救济申请的下降表明经济并没有原来预测的那么糟。

完成时的句子在翻译上应该加入“已经”
现在完成时 就是 主语已经怎样了。如题C，翻译为已经所想就很奇怪。
同理，
过去完成时 就是加入 主语在XXX时间已经。
尝试利用这个方法去对比句子意思应该可以判断什么时候用一般式，什么时候用完成时。
so...as...是正确的用法吗？能否作为一个知识点去排除？

C选项：as well as 是平行结构的标志词，前后时态平行
谓语动词suggest前面的两个由and连接的两个成分是主语，所以谓语动词用suggest原型，留下A和C选项，BC选项时态有问题，有主动不用被动的原则；DE选项无谓语动词
补充C的另一个绝对错误
the economy might not be as weak
as economy have been previously thought by some analysts -as后面是done结构，不平行
排除B的根本原因是have主谓不一致，主语是economy不能用have，被动确实不好，句子也不够简洁。
E选项的suggesting不是谓语动词吗....
