If x and y are positive, is xy > x + y ?

(1) x < y

(2) 2 < x

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.

Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.

BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.

Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

题目分析：

（1）因为x<y，两边同时加y得x+y<2y，因为不能得到2y<xy，也就不能得到x+y<xy，因此仅条件1不能解题。

（2）因为2<x，不知道y的值，也不能解题。

结合条件1和条件2，2<x<y，有xy>2y,x+y<2y，所以，x+y<2y<xy，题目得解。

因此，本题答案为（C），两个条件结合起来才能解题，任何单独一个均不行。
