If S is a set of four numbers w, x, y, and z, is the range of the numbers in S greater than 2 ?

(1) w - z > 2

(2) z is the least number in S.

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.

Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.

BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

题目分析：

（1） w-z>2，说明已经存在两个数的差值大于2，其余无论差值多少，w-z>2已经能保证集合S的范围大于2，题目得解。

（2）只知道z是最小值，无法得知其他数值的大小，也就无法计算范围，不能确定范围是否大于2。不满足要求。

因此，本题答案为（A），仅条件1可以解题，条件2不行。
