At a certain pizzeria,~$1 \over 8$~of the pizzas sold in one week were mushroom and ~$1 \over 3$~ of the remaining pizzas sold were pepperoni. If n of the pizzas sold were pepperoni, how many were mushroom?
~$3 \over 8$~n
~$3 \over 7$~n
~$7 \over 16$~n
~$7 \over 8$~n
3n
Let the total no. of pizzas sold be 'T'.
Mushroom pizzas, M = (1/8)T;
Remaining pizzas = (7/8)T;
Pepperoni pizzas = (1/3) * (7/8)T = (7/24)T;
Since, no. of pepperoni pizzas sold is given as n, we can say that n = (7/24)T;
T = 24n/7;
Sub this T in M:
M = (1/8) * 24n/7 = 3n/7.
