句子里两个they指代不一样可以吗？

they/their指代问题感觉在解题中应该放到比较后的步骤，只要其他的错误（比如whether和if的区分，主被动区分，with/in区分）没问题，再考虑they指代是否一定为同一个

those pronouns are in two completely different clauses, so they can absolutely stand for different nouns. as long as the meaning is clear in context, that isn't a problem.
1、句子结构没有看出来：It is unclear whether……or whether……。or触发平行，可以排除C
2、GMAT中if只能表示如果，想表达是否必须用whether
3、D和E项的句子意思差异没有体会出来。
or前后是两句话，两个whether的问题，whether提供的两个选择不会是两个句子呀。or后面省略it's unclear，whether为是否if为如果不冲突，可以放在一句话里

第一个whether表示是否，而不是二者选一，后面用or whether
D，那些被研究的动物会展现出相似的行为模式，that引导限制性定语从句，表示那些被研究的动物。这里的逻辑不是说那些被研究的动物是否会展现出，如果被研究的动物会展现出，那么我们可以推论与被研究的动物同属一类的动物也会展现出，所以这里不应该对展现出的动物进行限定。
E，如果其他动物被研究，他们会展现出相似的模式，if修饰谓语动词展现，逻辑是因为被研究，所以展现，ok
看选项第一个单词，可以看成考固定搭配，or whether而不是0月if;同时，划线部分和未划线部分内容一致，需要考虑平行，讲话方式一致。
补充知识点：if只能表示“如果”，表达“是否”需用whether；when 不能引导条件状语从句。
gmat中只能用whether 表示是否，不能用if。

E选项本身也有逻辑上的错误，我选了c选项，但c错在没有whether保持平行。
E选项说：是否当这些动物被研究地足够深了，他们会表现出这样的特征。讲道理应该是是否当这些动物被研究地足够深了，他们会“被发现”有这样的特征吧。
cite: 比较容易错的是D选项，错在that were studied，首先were studied是不是表示已经研究过了，还说不知道similar pattern是否会显现，前后是矛盾的。E，虚拟语气，if they were studied，这个were不是过去式，这是虚拟语气用法。那么是不是表示与事实不想符合，即这个研究其实还没有做过，如果我们研究过的话，将会怎么样怎么样。所以答案是E。
