500 is the multiple of 100 that is closest to x =500是（接近x的）一百的倍数-------450-550
400 is the multiple of 100 that is closest to y=400是（接近y的）一百的倍数------350-450

首先，明确什么是500 is the multiple of 100 that is closest to x。There are lots of multiples of 100，eg 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 etc， but 500 is THE ONE which is closest to X.

看不懂题，容易迷惑的地方在于，that is closest to x和that is closest to y实际修饰的分别是400和500
题目相当于问X是四舍五入到500的百位，Y是四舍五入到400的百位

“400 is the multiple of 100 that is closest to y”转换为不等式就是“350≤y＜450”
∴ 如果（1）成立，则450≤x＜500，800≤x+y＜950，无法确定其multiple of 100是800还是900
如果（2）成立，则350≤y＜400, 800≤x+y＜950，无法确定其multiple of 100是800还是900
如果（1）+（2），则800≤x+y＜900，依然不知道该数是距离800近还是900近。

如果小于450，比如440，那400就比500更接近440；
若大于550，比如560，那600就更接近560，而不是550。
同理得出y的范围
本题错就错在没看到标色部分，

我觉得主要是closest to A在数学方面的理解是表明在以A为中心的区间。这道题我也不太理解，后来去国外论坛看了别人的解答。类似的还有一些，我明天在og找找
