An intercollegiate basketball tournament is hosting playoffs with 320 players. Each team has 5 players and each team plays exactly one other team and either wins or loses. The winning team advances to the next round and the losing team is eliminated. No team or player drops out except by losing a game.

From the available options, select a number of tournament rounds and a number of teams such that after the specified number of rounds there will be a specified number of teams remaining in the tournament. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Brand Manager:

The decline in sales for MangoBerry apparel has various causes. One contributing factor is the rise of competitor PeachPlay, which has recently reduced its prices by 20%. PeachPlay previously received unwanted press from a consumer reports website due to a customer complaint. PeachPlay then incurred expenses to improve its public image surrounding this complaint. PeachPlay subsequently released a catchy video that went viral and boosted positive visibility for PeachPlay - units sold subsequently doubled.

Indicate in the table which cause-and-effect sequence would most likely, according to the brand manager, result in a decline in sales for MangoBerry. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Alvin (President), Brad (Vice President), Chad (Vice President), Dan (senior analyst), Ellinor (analyst), and Farsad (analyst) work at Goldly & Morgman, a corporate firm that works with consultants. The president supervises the vice president, who in turn supervises the senior analyst, who in turn supervises the analysts. There is one exception, which is that Brad does not supervise anyone. These are the only supervisory relationships involving these 6 employees.

Each proposal it receives from its consultants must be initially reviewed by exactly one employee. Each proposal reviewed by an employee must then be reviewed by that person's supervisor. No other rules require anyone else to review the proposal. Anyone not required to review a given proposal will not review it.

Select Dan among reviewers for the maximum number of employees that could have reviewed a single proposal if Dan were among the reviewers. Select Alvin among reviewers for the maximum number of employees that could have reviewed a single proposal if Alvin were among the reviewers. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Vendor: In Country X, there are several prominent C/N/S fabric manufacturers. Each of these fabric manufacturers develops fabrics in unique combinations in order to product differentiate. The combinations vary in percentages but usually include varying ratios of cotton, nylon, and spandex (C/N/S).

We can therefore be able to determine, on the basis of compositional analysis, where the next piece of clothing that we buy from our supplier originally came from. Once we figure that out, we can cut out the supplier and source directly from the original manufacturer.

Indicate two different statements as follows: one statement identifies an assumption required by the antique expert's argument and the other identifies a possible fact that, if true, would provide significant logical support for the required assumption.

Cardiac Surgeon: Although fast foods, processed snacks, and microwave meal replacements better fit the needs of working professionals who have little time and are always on the go, such "convenient" foods are harmful to the body's cardiovascular system as excess consumption of omega-6 vegetable oils like soybean, corn and sunflower lead to chronic inflammation of blood vessels. We can therefore make predictions about a person's cardiovascular health on the basis of a lifestyle characteristic of the person.

The cardiac surgeon suggests that a certain type of prediction about a person can be made on the basis of the person having a certain lifestyle characteristic. Indicate in the table the possible characteristic and prediction that most strongly conform to the cardiac surgeon's suggestion. Make only two selections, one in each column.

A city is hosting a table tennis tournament for its residents. Each team has exactly two players, and each player is on exactly one team. In each round, each team plays exactly one other team and either wins or loses. The winning team advances to the next round and the losing team is eliminated. No team or playler drops out except by losing a game. The tournament is in progress, and exactly 512 players participated in the first round.

From the available options, select a number of tournament rounds and a number of teams such that after the specified number of rounds there will be the specified number of teams remaining in the tournament. Make only two selections, one in each column.

GMATLA-2PA-18

Naturalist: The decline of coral reefs has various causes. One contributing factor is predation on coral by organisms such as the crown-of-thorns sea star, whose preferred food source is coral polyps. Human fishing practices have decreased the sea star's predators, such as the harlequin shrimp. It is also possible that runoff containing nutrients for phytoplankton has resulted in larger phytoplankton blooms: the crown-of-thorns sea star gladly eats phytoplankton.

Indicate in the table which cause-and-effect sequence would most likely, according to the naturalist, result in coral reef decline. Make only two selections, one in each column.

GMATLA-2PA-17

Archaeologist: There were several porcelain-production centers in 18th-century Britain, among them Bristol, Plymouth, and New Hall. Each center developed a unique recipe for its porcelain that might include flint glass, soapstone, bone ash, clay, quartz, and so on. We will therefore be able to determine, on the basis of compositional analysis, where the next cup we recover from this archaeological site was made.

Indicate two different statements as follows: one statement identifies an assumption required by the archaeologist's argument and the other identifies a possible fact that, if true, would, provide significant logical support for the required assumption.

For a particular custom basketball game, a player receives a personal warning upon accumulating at least 3 fouls within any 12 minute quarter and complete ejection from the court upon accumulating 5 such fouls at any time during the 48 minute game. For any single 48 minute game, missing between 2 minutes and 4 minutes of playtime counts as one-third of an absence, missing between 4 minutes and 10 minutes of playtime counts as half an absence, and missing more than 10 minutes counts as a full absence. However, a basketball player may postpone playtime to make up for up to 3 minutes of unexcused absence at another time.

The table contains descriptions of the unexcused absences of 5 players of a particular custom basketball game. Assume that in each case the basketball player had no other unexcused absences and made up no other time. In the table, select a description of a basketball player who qualified for a personal warning but not a complete ejection, and select a description of a basketball player who qualified for a complete ejection. Make only two selections, one in each column.

MeTube Productions presents high-quality productions of comical, news-oriented video segments. During the past few years, viewersihp has been stagnant and business profits have gone done. Surveys conducted show that a majority of those who watch MeTube Productions regularly enjoyed watching the videos; almost all of them have been regular viewers for many years. Surveys conducted of other internet users, however, show that not many people are even aware of MeTube Productions' existence. Most actually imagine their videos to be just like the many thousands of other video production companies out there without something unique that makes them different and worthy to pay attention to. As a way to appeal to more internet viewers, over the past 5 years the company has invested heavily on visual special effects and video editing services, while reducing number of ad impressions.

In the first column of the table, select the strategy that, in the absence of the other alternatives listed, would lead most directly to decreasing MeTube Production's expenses for its comical, news-oriented video segments. In the second column, select the strategy that, in the absence of the other alternatives listed, would constitute the most direct approach to solving the problem of increasing viewership for MeTube Production's video productions. Make only two selections, one in each column.
