我就选的a 呢， 因为them 指代cheetah species。。。。。也没明白这个对比对象
我后来想明白了，后边的主语一定和clones是同类的。第一句说Almost like clones in their similarity to one another，就是像clone 和one another一样，什么什么的，那这里只能是豹子长得像豹子合理，不能说基因像基因，所以这里的clones是类似于一个实物、动物的概念的东西才说得通
