Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over North America, they are named for the New Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.
Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, Clovis points are spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces and have been found all over North America.

题目分析:
略
选项分析:
A选项: Correct. 本选项在语法上和逻辑上均是正确的。
B选项:where引导的定语从句的先行词必须在从句中作状语而不能作主语,因此动词discovered缺少主语。
另外,Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932是伴随状语,但是“Clovis points被命名为了一个墨西哥州的遗址”和“Clovis points是矛”之间不具有转折关系(although)。
C选项:where they have been first discovered in 1932中的discover需改为一般过去时。这是因为,discover是一个点动词,没有“到现在为止”发现,只能在过去发现。(也可以由明确的过去时间(1932)要用过去时,不能用现在完成时来解释)
D选项:本选项没有谓语动词。
E选项:转折关系不成立错误同(B)。
they have been first discovered是错的,discovered可以用完成时,但有first就不可以
where作定语:Tell me where will u go?
where作同位语:the place where I met you,where作名词同位the place,I met u作定语从句修饰where
B,named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932是个同位语结构,具体为:first discovered in 1932过去分词作定语修饰where,where作名词同位the New Mexicosite
B选项,首先是不存在转折关系。其次where引导的从句,先行词要做状语而不是主句,因此从句缺少主语
C选项,发现discover是瞬间时刻,而不是一直发现,因此需要注意时态
D选项没有谓语动词
E选项转折不成立。
1. where SV(O) 2. have been discovered 是 短動詞 没有“到现在为止”发现,只能在过去发现。3. have been found 一直以來 已經 被發現 語法是可以的
b中where first discovered in 1932 错误,没有细心度题,排除了cde,选了b,b排出的话其实就对了,都是基本的语法错误。排除法
As a general rule, a subordinate conjunction, such as "although" or "even though" or "while", should be followed by a full [noun] + [verb] structure. The GMAT doesn't like following a subordinate conjunction with simply a participial phrase,
hey are named for the New Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.
named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932
熟悉这两个选项的区别
时态,定语从句which和where的区别
B.Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932
where引导的定语从句的先行词必须在从句中作状语而不能作主语,因此动词discovered缺少主语。
have been first discovered
discover是点动作,不能用现在完成时
C 选项中的have discovered 有问题,in 1932 只是一个过去的时间点,应该用过去时间,而不是现在完成时
C选项这个They这样用是对的吗,前面没有出现这个they所指代的东西
have been first discovered

where=介词+which
discovered in 1932 明确的时间
where引导的定语从句的先行词必须在从句中作状语而不能作主语,因此动词discovered缺少主语

As a general rule, a subordinate conjunction, such as "although" or "even though" or "while", should be followed by a full [noun] + [verb] structure. The GMAT doesn't like following a subordinate conjunction with simply a participial phrase, such as the participial phrase "named for the new Mexico site where fist discovered in 1932".
Although后面接完整的句子,不是分词,B错
B选项:where引导的定语从句的先行词必须在从句中作状语而不能作主语,因此动词discovered缺少主语。
另外,Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932是伴随状语,但是“Clovis points被命名为了一个墨西哥州的遗址”和“Clovis points是矛”之间不具有转折关系(although)。
C选项:'have been first discovered'是错误的时态,因为discover只能有一次,不能first...修饰;
D选项:没有谓语动词;even though...but。。。同时使用;
E选项:chipped into; 逻辑上有问题,尽管(描述Clovis points,)但是它们被在北美找到。。。依据原文,这个根本构不成转折,语义不符;
按背景原则来选比较清晰。
