原则上，句子省略是可以的。但是E因为后面for ours 将时间拉到了现在，这样就应该是现在时态。而省略的前提是，主语谓语相同，才可以省略。were 与 are明显不同，所以不能省略。
而且in his own time表示过去时间，并没有从过去跨到现在的意思，所以have使用也存疑。所以E错误。
关于as disturbing as：Mr. aeo 在prep08里面讲过，as disturbing 第一个as是adv，表示程度。第二个as是连词，连接句子（本题E的连词使用没有问题，因为连词可以连接省略的句子）。既然是两个句子，那么have就不能理解为跨越in his own time 和for ours两个时间区域。
