Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than it was in any previous election.
a greater proportion than it was
a greater proportion than
a greater proportion than they have been
which is greater than was so
which is greater than it has been
省略哦
proportion比较,用it/that。 而不是they /those;同类不同体,用that
"they" would have to refer to "soaring television costs", by elimination: there aren't any other plural nouns.
literally, this makes no sense, since television costs weren't "soaring" in OTHER elections.
代词,指代前面所有属性
注意:costs是复数了...
错选C。
"they" would have to refer to "soaring television costs", by elimination: there aren't any other plural nouns.

a greater proportion than (proportion) was
A it是完全指代 应用that 部分指代
C 单数 不能用they

comma+noun这种modifier修饰的是之前一句话
here are a few singular entities that “it” may refer to. These entities are “spending” and “the presidential campaign of 1992”. However, none of these entities are logical antecedent of “it”. Hence, presence of this pronoun makes this sentence incorrect.
from GMAT club 意思就是A中的it是不能指代a great proportion的
1. 不是 cost 去比较,是 proportion,所以不同they。
2.不能用 it,可以用that。
就服你!每次都发现你的解答最make sense!
主要因为我脑子慢 所以理解完别人的吧 自己得消化成自己能懂的语言 哈哈哈

c应该是they have done?
in any previous election是个明显的时间提示词,应该用过去完成时。但have been与前面的accounted for不平行,所以,感觉要用也只能用have done了

it完全指代 that 同意指代
对啦,比较
