可以做结果状语。但伴随状语表达的结果通常是和主句“同时发生”的结果。
也有点疑惑,如果A中outnumbering做结果状语,修饰前面整个句子,表达letters over the period overnumber...呢?虽然选了E,觉得E直接修饰letter更好点

一万吨拍。是were written这句话和outnumber这句话之间缺少连词。and连接的是begin和end,不是同一层次的成分。
一万吨?拍。。。嗯,明白了,GMAT里任何两个独立的句子都不能用“,”连接,需要用and, but, for,yet之类的连接,或者是分号加therefore什么的。重新来过,二刷回来做题,tons of tears :)
“,”不可以在没有连词的情况下连接两个独立的句子,这点明白了。但是句中的begin和end为什么不是一个层次的呢?这两个不都是修饰period的定语吗?

语法上的确是没问题,但是在逻辑上,begin和end这两个动作在这道题目中应该是时态相同吧,至少begin不能是一般现在时。
