我在D和E之间纠结，最后选了E。有大神解释一下吗？

该选项的比较重心在动作上，而不是在speeds上，因此比较标志higher放在了介词短语at higher speeds里，而不是speeds的定语从句里，所以不能拿一个句子和that（speeds）相比，在d的基础上，可以有正确答案would enable customers to receive internet data over regular telephone lines at much higher speeds than the customer could do currently and possibly.

D选项中的 favored because ... 到底是个什么结构呢？

这题我觉得是我遇到的最难的，老师讲完我还没明白。

正常语序：the rate at which trees grow is believed to be among the surest indications of sunspot cycles.
AB: 主谓不一致，不能用are，要用is。
D: 没有谓语动词。
剩下C和E: C里边on Earth做状语修饰is believed动作，这动作发生在地球上；D里边on Earth做定语修饰indications，太阳黑子周期在地球上最确切的表现。作定语更合理。

看清楚比较对象，究竟是主语在比较还是宾语在比较。

句子没看全，光凭后面的and to pinpoint可以排除ABE，剩下C和D。D里边to prepare for the prediction的主语是computer network，错误，选C。

另外，ABC里边in preparation/preparing for ...用的是介宾短语做状语，没有逻辑主语的概念，所以不能依据这个来看句子主语来排除选项。

B和C的结构，表明spend的主语是plans，plans不能发出spend的动作，排除。
E里边，requiring ... and spending...如果是做状语来修饰前面的impose动作，则主语是plans，排除。
A: ,and spend我更倾向于spend是与前面的大主句并列，因为前面有个逗号，主语是union members，语义不正确。

D中that are not foreseeable系表结构表示的是weather conditions的“不可预测的”属性，但是到底有没有被预测到，是另外一码事。

D最先排除，没有谓语。
整个题目的逻辑关系是：在KG之后，邮报才位列第一；在位列第一之后，又在KG的引领下对水门事件的持续报道，使得邮报获得赞誉。KG became publisher--> moved into the first rank --> under her command... unrelenting reporting --> won high praise是有时间顺序的。 所以C和E里边将won praise和move into变成状语，对其他动作进行修饰，都是不合逻辑的。B里边的had won时态就不合理了。

最后A是强调句型。

A B C里边，resulting in wood ....是状语，主语是forest，语义错误。
E里边应该是 x times as ... as...，不能用than；而且as a result放的位置诡异。
