Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil than they were last year.
Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil than they were
Heating-oil prices are expected to rise higher this year over last because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did
Expectations are for heating-oil prices to be higher this year than last year's because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did
It is the expectation that heating-oil prices will be higher for this year over last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil now than what they were
It is expected that heating-oil prices will rise higher this year than last year's because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did
A选项:Correct. 比较对象是this year和last year,即,两个年份。
B选项:rise表达了“上升”的意思,而higher表示更高。在逻辑上,rise的结果一定是“使得某物higher”,因此,rise或higher只能存在一个,higher赘余;
另外,higher…than…
比较两个年份的价格在本题中也是可以的,但是,last year's在than的身前无法找到平行对象,可以改为: this year's heating-oil prices are higher than last year's prices.
D选项:higher…over…
I ran faster today than (I did) yesterday.
同理,heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than (heating-oil prices were expected to be) last year.

A中than they are是个省略句
1.they were 和 they did 都是一样的,不是排除选项的点,如果是they were 省略的是they were paying, 而they did省略的是they paid.
2.
A:prices are higher this year than last(省略了year)
B:This year's prices are higher than last's
B选项:rise higher赘余;
C选项:this year than last year's比较不对等;
D选项:It is the expectation that--wordy
E选项:同BC;It is expected that--wordy
over可排除bd
c的字面意思是expectations are to be higher 而不是prices because后面 are paying 对应的是they did 也是错误的
。。than。。。
this year‘s than last’s 平行 this year than last 平行
选a
请问划线部分末位的than they were这里为什么用were不用did?
A 正确 Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than (Heating-oil prices were expected to be)last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil than they were(paying) last year.
B rise higher重复 比较级用than不用over
C Expectations( for heating-oil prices) are to be higher this year than last year
B:在逻辑上,rise的结果一定是“使得某物higher”,因此,rise或higher只能存在一个,higher赘余;
另外,higher…than…
C选项:比较对象不对等,last year's在than的身前无法找到平行对象,可以改为: this year's heating-oil prices are higher than last year's prices.
“last”和“this”是平行的,“last”是“last year”省略后的结果,将省略部分补齐之后,比较句式为“Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than(it was)last(year)”
Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than a year ago,

主要是所有格形式the last year's找不到平行比较的对象
