Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil than they were last year.
Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil than they were
Heating-oil prices are expected to rise higher this year over last because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did
Expectations are for heating-oil prices to be higher this year than last year's because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did
It is the expectation that heating-oil prices will be higher for this year over last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrel more for crude oil now than what they were
It is expected that heating-oil prices will rise higher this year than last year's because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did
A选项:Correct. 比较对象是this year和last year,即,两个年份。
B选项:rise表达了“上升”的意思,而higher表示更高。在逻辑上,rise的结果一定是“使得某物higher”,因此,rise或higher只能存在一个,higher赘余;
另外,higher…than…
比较两个年份的价格在本题中也是可以的,但是,last year's在than的身前无法找到平行对象,可以改为: this year's heating-oil prices are higher than last year's prices.
D选项:higher…over…
因为this year和last year都是比较是的同一事物:Healing-oil prices。
RON觉得,“Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last”跟“Prices at the producer level are only 1.3 percent higher now than a year ago”,都是省略了(they were),省略了之后 aren't necessarily faulty,也就是省略不省略都可以接受。
那请问,prices are higher this year than last year's ,这个结构是对的?因为,生产者价格那题里,正确选项的结构是prices are higher now than those of a year ago,这两题里这个比较结构是类似的。但是我觉得还原回来不太平行:prices are higher now than (prices) of a year ago (were),总觉得主句在比状语,从句在比主语。

herl解释错了,那题A选项的问题是后面的therefore raised,than a year ago 是没有问题的。
并且不造成歧义,这一题后面的比较than they were last year."they were"就补出了,是为了避免跟前面的than last year 混淆。

Expectations are for heating-oil prices to be higher this year
than last year's
2-C比的是expectation, 今年的期望比去年的期望高,偷换了主语;应该是价格比去年高,错;
排除E;
综上选A;

It is expected that the war would end soon. 2) this year than last year,而不是所有格
