According to scientists who monitored its path, an expanding cloud of energized particles ejected from the Sun recently triggered a large storm in the magnetic field that surrounds Earth, which brightened the Northern Lights and also possibly knocking out a communications satellite.

A选项:首先,which brightened the Northern Lights是定语从句,also possibly knocking out a communications satellite是分词短语,应是伴随状语,两者无法保持平行。
但在逻辑上,真正能点亮北极光的应该是an expanding cloud of energized particles。(knocking out a communications satellite的逻辑主语错误与本选项同理)
代词it的指代对象为an expanding cloud of energized particles,这是没有问题的。
D选项:brighten和knock out在本选项中的发出者为a large storm,但在逻辑上,应该是an expanding cloud of energized particles点亮了北极光和切断了信号,不是暴风雨;另外,brighten和knock out应是trigger的伴随状语错误同(B)。
It is raining, and I must stay. work hard, and you will sucess.

另外,现在分词做伴随状语,brightening 可以理解, knocking out a communications satellite.
