to usher a seasonably cool air mass into the region while a broad area of high pressure builds, which will
A选项:连词as身后是由并列连词and连接起来的合句,即, a broad area of high pressure will build和a broad area of high pressure will bring fair and dry weather for several days.
B选项:选项末尾的that bring fair and dry weather for several days是定语从句,其修饰对象为a broad area of high pressure,这造成的错误同选项(A)。
D选项:with a broad area of high pressure building是独立主格结构,其无法和身后的动宾短语bring fair and dry weather for several days形成并列关系。
值得注意的是,划线部分最后的非限定性定语从句which will bring fair and dry weather for several days在修饰其身前的两个事件的共同结果。
A. 连词as“当...时”身后是由并列连词and连接起来的合句,即a broad area of high pressure will build和a broad area of high pressure will bring fair and dry weather for several days.
The basic idiom is:
I usher X in.
If I want to specify the region in which this X is introduced, I would say:
I usher X into A.
”which will 就远修饰a board of high pressure, 因为谓语builds很短。不然句子就要变成:while a borad area of high pressure, which will bring fair and dry weather for several days, builds. ----by IrisH ”
a new CEO has been hired who….

usher...into
usher in
本题就E选项which能否修饰整句话有歧义,呈观望状态;毕出老师认为有定语从句和同位语从句区分时定语从句要严格保证修饰名词,如果本身考题不涉及该考点时,某些出题人会由于出题习惯直接把which写成指代前面某句话,此时由于不是考点,不能排除;
https://gmatclub.com/forum/gusty-westerly-winds-will-continue-to-usher-in-a-seasonably-cool-air-m-242543.html
If pressure, speed, sound, or excitement builds, it gradually becomes greater.
e.g. A unique opportunity to usher in a new era of stability in Europe
USHER:to take or show sb where they should go。
Usher... in固定搭配如果是具体的地点就是Usher...into,这里in...into重复了ABC都有这个问题
I can’t give you the actual text of the correct answer, but here’s a similar example:
The hurricane will continue to develop while an area of high pressure spreads, which will cause torrential rain and possible flooding.
which指代前面的an area of high pressure
Let’s talk about the question that surprised me a little, #781. The correct answer uses a particular grammatical construction that doesn’t strictly follow the patterns we’ve typically seen on the GMAT. But the usage of this thing (I’ll tell you what it is in a minute) has become more common in spoken language, so I think they’re signaling that this is fine on the GMAT, too.
